Four Months Old

Four Months Old!

Weight: 16 lbs. 12 oz. (76th percentile)

Height: 2 ft. 1.6 in. (69th percentile)

Head: 18 in. (99th percentile)

Eating: Big boy is a great eater and still nurses 5 times a day. However, and often to my dismay, he will only nurse on one side 50% of the time. It's no big deal really, but it drives me slightly crazy. This month he has also started vomiting a ton. Like I'm always covered in it and we are both constantly changing outfits. I have been trying my best to keep him dry, but I am not being completely successful because he has wet rash all over his neck and chest.

Sleeping: Jed is such a great sleeper! I was waiting for the 4 month sleep regression to hit (and maybe it will again), but it was two days of up all night and then he was back to sleeping through the night.

He naps great too! He still naps 4 times a day and definitely still needs / asks for each nap. Normally he will take one really good nap after his 1:30-2 PM nursing. His sleeping has been a big blessing for me, probably in more ways than I know.

He Loves: His chains, sitting up, talking

He Doesn't Like: Loud noises including screeches from his sister ;-) But seriously he is a happy guy and hardly ever complains.

New Skills: Playing with toys, sitting up better, consonant sounds, super close to giggling

Exciting Things We Did:

Not Jed related, but we had another ER visit this month. Charles put a sewing needle through his finger. He was so brave and it left no scare at all. Jed hung out with our neighbor, Lisa, until daddy could get to him.

Jed attended his first wedding. We witnessed Jane and Nate Huber get married... well kind of. Jed wasn't feeling the romantic vibes and wanted to be nowhere near the wedding, so mommy didn't get to see any of the ceremony. However, he did love the reception so much that he refused to go to sleep until we left around 10PM. Unfortunately, I never got a good photo of him in his cute little suit.

We went apple picking with the Distler's!

Someone was hungry and not getting fed :-)

We went to the Manheim Farm Show! Which also included Jed's first slide ride.

Family photo fun <3

I had to wake him up to go somewhere and he was not a fan.

Sleeping babes make my heart melt.

Chatting with cousin Corbett!

Big boy learned how fun it is to sit up this month!
She really loves him, she just has a hard time showing her affection safely.

Their relationships summed up in one picture :-P

A Note From Daddy: To my BIG littlest Jed, I love seeing you come alive. Seeing you smile, watching you wiggle, and listening to you talk makes all of my cares in the world go away. Never stop lighting up our world! I love you!

Three Months Old!

Three Months - No way!

Weight: On August 27th he weighed 15lbs. That was 2-1/2 weeks ago though.

Eating: Jed is still a great eater! Not much has changed. He eats quickly. This month he dropped his middle of the night feeding all by himself, so he is down to just 5 nursings a day - crazy!

Sleeping: I feel like I shouldn't say this, because I know that it can quickly change, but Jed has been sleeping through the night for the past 2 weeks! Guys, it took my other kiddos until near a year + to sleep through the night. I am kind of waiting for the good sleep to disappear, however I am SO thankful! He is sleeping in his sleep suit and normally sleeps somewhere from 8PM-7 or 8 AM.

He naps pretty well too. Normally he takes a nap around 9AM, 12 PM, 3PM, and 6PM. Each nap is about an hour long, but will normally take a good 2-3 hour nap once a day (it changes when in the day he decides to take that good nap.) If he doesn't take a cat nap before bedtime, then going to bed is a little harder, although he is starting to fight that nap more.

He Loves: Looking at things (he is really working on his habit of attention!), talking with his mama, bath time,

He Doesn't Like: Jed really only cries when he gets hurt; there isn't much he doesn't like!

New Skills: He is getting really good at concentrating on objects and has started reaching towards toys and trying to grab them, sleeping through the night, he found his hands this month and LOVES them.

Exciting Things We Did:
We went to the beach!

We went to Cape Henlopen State Park. It was literally the most perfect trip ever. We made good timing going there and the kids were being well behaved. The temperature was perfect. The sand was so much fun. I even got Jed down for a nap in his little baby tent without an issue. Then Ty asked to go swim in the ocean for a little by himself. The kids and I played. Then Jed woke up and the big kids went into his tent to snuggle him like they often do. Except when I wasn't looking, something happened and Jed screamed like I never heard him scream before. I turned around to look at him and thought to myself, "man, he must really be hurt. He is trying to roll over and has never even attempted that." Looking back, he wasn't trying to turn, his arm was not moving with his body. Not only did he scream, but no matter what I did I couldn't stop him. I finally got Ty's attention and he came to help. He asked the lifeguard if they had medics near. The lifeguards called the medics over and the medics told us that we should take him to an urgent care, except urgent cares aren't open on Sunday, so to the hospital it was. The lifeguards helped us pack up quickly and carry our stuff to the car. Ty and the kids dropped Jed and I off. Jed and I hung out in the ER, while Ty and the bigs did more exploring. In conclusion, Jed's shoulder was popped out of it's socket, but went back on its own. Looking back, I think it was back in its place by the time we got to the car, but once you are on your way to the ER, it is hard to stop and reconsider. When we got to the ER they looked him over and did an x-ray to make sure that everything went back without any hidden twists or tears - thank Jesus all was well. He was sore for the rest of the day and the following, but was totally normal two days later. We got out of the hospital with enough time to get dinner and get a treat on the boardwalk.

Overall, still a great day!

Waiting in the ER.

Exploring with Daddy

Waiting to go home from the ER.

Bedtime routine before heading back home!

We introduced and used bottles!

Daddy gave him his first bottle and then Grammy gave Jed three bottles over the course of two days while daddy was involved in a wedding (and mommy tagged along).

More Photos:
I heard Charlie holler from my bedroom to "grab a diaper" because "this is a big one!" Found Charlie with Jed's onesie unbuttoned and his diaper nearly completely off changing a (very) poopy diaper. Our bedspread only suffered a small spot.

This was the magic key to get him to take long naps, now he naps swaddled in a blanket and on his boppi pillow.

Poor third child. This is a "game" that Charlie likes to play with him. "Jed really likes it!"

SO HANDSOME!

Brother / Sister Photos:

I know they can be a bit much, Jed, but they truly deeply love you.

A Note From Mommy: You are such a gift. You are such an easy going little guy. I love you. And I often want to eat you up - so do your brother and sister. Also, thank you for all the sleep. Seriously.
