9 Months Old!

Height: 2 ft 4.5 inches (55 percentile)

Weight: 18 lbs 14 oz (36 percentile)

Head Circumference: 45.5 cm (64 percentile)

Eating: Jed has tried many new foods this month including (but probably not limited to) puffed kamut, broccoli, cauliflower, cantaloupe, grapes, oatmeal, black beans, rice. I am sure that I am forgetting something, but he is eating great and loves food! He weaned himself off of his 4:30 nursing and so he is nursing 4 times a day. He loves to feed himself and gets very impatient if I have to be the one to feed him something. Little guy still only has two teeth.

Sleeping: Jed's sleeping is pretty consistent. It is exactly the same as it was last month. He sleeps around 7:30PM - 6:30/7AM and then naps two times a day depending on our schedule (he does not transfer in his car seat). I am going to switch him into a convertible car seat, but am waiting for this crazy wind to settle down.

He Loves: bananas, and eating in general, his mama, being swaddled for naps, shaking his head and laughing.  He thinks it is really funny when I steal his paci from his mouth.

He Doesn't Like: His sister loves to sit on his back. He doesn't like that. He also doesn't like being put in his carseat, but doesn't mind once he's in.

New Skills: So so close to crawling! He is booty scooting all over! He is speaking a lot more, mainly dada, and lip rolls.

Exciting Things We Did:
Lydia and Charles had their first sibling sleepover. It went well, but Lydia still ended up in our bed as usual.

Grammy took the kiddos to the park one day while mommy was at home sick with mastitis. What a blessing Grammie's are.

Grammie also took us to the splash pool at the rec. Everyone loved it! Jed had a blast splashing! Did I mention that Grammie's are the best?

Obviously can't get one picture where everyone is looking and smiling. :-)
We turned Lydia's carseat around and per her request she is now in the back with Charlie.

We had a couple Spring like days! Most of which Jed slept through outside play time.

Lydia got a big girl bed!

C gave Jed his own banana. Let's just say he needed an outfit change, but was pretty pleased with himself.

Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping babe?

Too cold outside for this little one

Sibling Pictures:

Poor Jed. Not an uncommon outcome of sibling interaction.
A Note From Mommy: Jed you are getting so big. You are one tough guy. You got shots at your nine month well baby, and the nurses were amazed at how brave you were - you only cried for a second. I think you have your sister and brother to thank for that. You have been giving me kisses lately and they are my favorite and every time you lean forward with your open mouth and I give you a kiss you look up at me with amazement, and every time I melt a little. Time is a funny thing. You were just in my belly and now here we are 9 months later and your so close to being on the go. The worst part is time will only keep going faster. I try desperately to hold on to the moments, but no matter how hard I try, they still fly by. You and your brother and sister mean the world to me and I'm hope that you always know how much I love and cherish you. May I never waste a single moment of time that I have been blessed with being your mama.

Month Eight!

8 months old and I can't believe it!

Eating: We tried solids this month! We started with avocados and he LOVES them. We also tried sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, zucchini, apples, squash, pears, and bananas (but not in that order). He loves pears, squash, and avocados that most. He does not like carrots and sweet potatoes. Jed still nurses 5 times a day. He is just starting to understand how to handle the food. I normally aim to drop the dinner time nursing around 10 months. He definitely nurses the least amount during that session so I don't think it will be a big deal to him once he really gets the hang of food.

Sleeping: Jed is a great sleeper! We have been doing bed around 7PM and he normally passes out (unless we falls asleep in the car after 6:30). He will then sleep until around 6:30-7AM. Sometimes he stirs earlier, but he normally does not get out of bed until 7. Ty gets him every morning, because I am normally teaching. Jed does great waiting for me, but as soon as he sees me in the morning he breaks down and cries until I feed him. It is actually pretty funny to walk up the basement steps every morning and look at a smiling baby, who then looks at you and instantly cries until you feed him. Every. Single. Time.

Jed is pretty much down to two naps. He normally takes a 2 hour nap from 9AM-11AM, unless we are out running errands. He does not transfer sleeping in his carseat, even if I keep him in his carseat he normally wakes up. I am going to switch him to his convertible carseat soon. He then naps again normally from 12PM-1 or 2PM. It varies how long his second nap is. He could probably use another early evening cat nap, but normally does not get one.

He Loves: playing peekaboo, baths, watching his siblings, chewing on large chucks of food, holding my face between his hands <3, playing with his wooden train, and wool lamb shaker

He Doesn't Like: carrots, sweet potatoes, being put into his carseat (although he's fine once he's in), waiting to eat when he is hungry

New Skills: Sitting up so well!, eating, working really hard at crawling (he get's into position and then falls on his face and cries), he is getting pretty good at booty scooting though!

Exciting Things We Did:

Lydia decided to start potty training herself this month. I am not ready, so I am leaving it completely up to her. Right now she gets about 50% of her pees and poops in the potty. Lydia also got her first haircut this month.

We went hiking at a rock patch. It was one of those decisions that Ty and I questioned after he started climbing, but we all lived and had a blast! The rocks were wet and slippery and Ty had to carry the big kids across the patch at one point where we got stuck.

Charlie got a lego stuck in his nose. We were able to blow it down far enough and then grab it with tweezers. That boy gives me a run for my money. I can image C and Jed will have a lot of fun together as they get older!

Jed and I went on a date with Grampy, Grammie, and Maggie (their exchange student) one night while Daddy and the bigs went to the Harrisburg Car Show. We got pedicures and went out for dinner. It was the first time that Jed sat in a high chair at a restaurant.

Jed also sat in a shopping cart the big boy that he is for the first time this month.

A Note From Daddy: To my dearest Jed, I am so proud of the happy little boy that you're becoming. You brighten my day with each smile and head shake that you direct my way. I wish you wouldn't pull my beard, but I appreciate that you want to spend more and more time with me. I pray that your brother and sister will keep you alive for at least a few more years so that you can get some brotherly revenge on them for all the "loving" that they give to you :D I love you so much JT!
